Net-Shape HIP

We have combined materials knowledge with proprietary manufacturing methods to produce electroformed Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) canisters for net-shape powder metallurgy. Working in partnership with HIP experts at The Manufacturing Technology Centre we are validating our capability to enable more complex HIP canister design, whilst dramatically cutting the cost and lead-time associated with conventional sheet welding methods of fabrication.

This more accessible and cheaper process unlocks HIPing for the next generation of components that require a controlled uniform microstructure from a range of high-performance alloys.

Electroformable metals such as nickel and iron are used to produce cans either as one-offs or in series production.

HIP is typically used when tailored alloy systems are needed that are unable to be produced by casting or forging. Applications in the nuclear energy, oil & gas, maritime and aerospace industries are most common.
